Easy Fake Meat!

I order vegan supplements like Omega-3's, calcium, and multivitamins from Vegan Essentials. While I'm browsing there, sometimes a new food item I've never tried catches my eye. That's the case with these Veggie Ribs. They're only $2.99, really easy to make, and delicious! All you really do is mix it up with water, add some tahini or peanut butter, and top it off with BBQ sauce. Here they are after baking for a little while:
...and here they are with the BBQ sauce. Yum!!!
I also found the easiest recipe in the world for seitan in La Dolce Vegan!, and since then I've been making faux chicken as if the world were running out of gluten. Here is some with my beloved kale and mashed potatoes:
...and here is some seitan with pesto sauce and whole wheat fettucine:

I used to be totally intimidated by making seitan, I had a few bad experiences with recipes that required a lot of time and resulted in rubbery gluten, but I thought I'd give Sarah Kramer's recipe a try. I'm so glad I did!

I'll have to give that seitan recipe a try. I've found good ones and I'm a creature of habit so often don't try new recipes, but I really should!

Sarah's recipes for faux meats are the best! I just saw in Veg News that she's got a new book coming out on vegan survival on the road. It's called Vegan a Go-Go! I can't wait.

Also, I love those Veggie Ribs. I occasionally order them from Food Fight or Vegan Essentials too!

The problem with ordering food online is that I tend to spend way more than I normally would for groceries... But there are just so many wonderful things out there, like these "ribs"! I'll have to order it next time I have some money burning a hole in my pocket. ;)

Ooh, I'm always up for an easy recipe, so I might have to try that one for seitan!

Just wanted to say hello to a fellow vegan and Virgo-an (if that's a word)! ... I've always been too 'chicken' to make seitan, so thanks for the post on an easy recipe. And your cinnamon rolls are making me drool on my keyboard!
